Health Aid

THE HEALTH AID PROGRAM IS RUN BY THE COLOMBIAN AIR FORCE WITH THE SUPPORT OF EXTENDING A HAND FOUNDATION

A team of doctors and specialists in different areas of health and nutrition, including ophthalmologists, pediatricians, optometrists, gynecologists, dentists, general practitioners, nutritionists and other volunteers, visit Agua de Dios three times a year to assist girls and children, elderly and nuns, in order to provide preventive health services to this community. This team raises and sometimes donates the necessary resources for those who require medical attention, including ophthalmological surgeries, visual therapy, corrective lenses and even eye surgeries, as well as total and partial dentures when necessary, and when resources allow.

Over time, this program is expected to be extended to other health sectors and to incorporate more volunteers.

In the same way, nutritional plans and programs have been developed so that the Congregation can now be used to offer better nutrition to this vulnerable population. And, girls receive personalized attention from general practitioners, pediatricians, gynecologists, psychologists, ophthalmologists, optometrists, dentists and nutritionists, with three visits per year, thus establishing a completely preventive health and well-being program that reaches more than 150 girls in Agua de Dios.

Due to its impact in the community and the importance of these services as part of the community wellbeing, this project became a permanent Program.
